FORESTRY AND ESTATE MANAGEMENT
The forest is our legacy and our responsibility. Forst Kienberg is more than a hotel. It is a thriving community with a cultivated forest. The estate is managed and developed sustainably and sensitively by a community who collectively help shape and support it. Our Forestry actively works with and not against the ecosystem. Using the resources from the forest we benefit from our own biomass heating plant and promote renewable energy whilst preserving biodiversity. Sustainable forest management fulfils our ecological, economic and social responsibilities. Our commitment is forest management that works for today and for the future.
Understanding the forest. And planning ahead responsibly.
Ecology as the basis for every decision
A large part of the 500 acre Kienberg Forest is a Natura 2000 site. Forest and fields that deserve considered management. Here, we work in harmony with nature, with care and respect. Our ecological forestry practices are not driven by profit margins, but with a view to achieving long-term balance.
Preserving and showcasing diversity
The Kienberg Forest is characterised by old beech, larch, and spruce trees – and by a remarkable biodiversity. Protected snowdrops, sweet woodruff, and rare plants can be found here, as well as many different animal species.
Sustainable use instead of short-term profit
For us, wood is not simply a raw material, but part of a life cycle. We harvest carefully, replant with purpose, and protect native birds. Our goal is a stable biodiverse forest that is both ecologically and economically sustainable. Today and for the future.
Sustainable Energy created by us
Since 2021, we have been supplying much of the estate with energy from our biomass heating plant. The biomass comes from our own forest – regional, renewable, and used responsibly. In this way, care becomes energy. Our responsible management becomes a functioning system.
