About us
Forst Kienberg is more than a place. It is a mindset. We strive to create a sanctuary that is grounding and inspiring. A place that is equally retreat and freeing. Raw. And sophisticated. Luxury redefined: time to just be. A meaningful connection to the great outdoors. And self.
A place in development.
Forst Kienberg is being created – and that is part of its charm. Some areas are still growing and others continue to evolve. Arriving here today means not to experience a finished product but to become part of an emerging process.
A place that evolves remains dynamic, curious and open. And that is what makes it remarkable.
Our Values. And our vision.
Retreat and Inspiration
We believe in places that enable both : serenity and new awakenings. Reflections and inspiration. Forst Kienberg should provide the space for people to gain perspective – and simultaneously reconnect with themselves.
Nature as a resource for renewal
Nature is not merely a backdrop here but an integral part of the experience. Whether air, water, plants or forest: everything that takes place here is deeply rooted in the environment and promotes real regeneration.
Rethinking Luxury
Luxury means having time. Room to breathe. Instead of abundance we focus on quality; instead of perfection on authenticity. Because what really resonates is often just simplicity. When it comes from the right place.
“I wanted to give back.
Not just build something.”
Teresa Outhwaite has had a close connection to this remarkable place ever since her childhood. Forst Kienberg has been in her family for generations and is still family owned. She believes in its sense of purpose. Which is why Forst Kienberg is more than just a project: it is a journey and a responsibility. In conversation she reveals what motivates her and what connects her to the people here. And why it is more than just a hotel which is emerging here.
What was your first thought when it became clear: This place should become more than just a piece of land?
My first thought was responsibility. For my family's history, for that which came before me. And I had to question how I could carry on and develop this legacy with care. With respect and with an eye towards the future and what could be created here.
You've known Kienberg since your childhood. What makes this place so special?
Everything you could ever need is here. Forest, fields, water, animals. Nature in all its purity. What makes it special : Doing nothing becomes an experience. You find inner peace and realise how much it holds.
What does it mean to you to return to a place and redesign it?
It's more than a project. It’s become my life’s mission. A fulfilling challenge. To create something here that will last. An opportunity to develop experiences that do justice to this place. That gives me a sense of purpose. And deep satisfaction.
“Calm Mind. Wild Heart.”: How would you describe this concept for yourself personally?
For me, it means: Finding your inner peace and giving space to that inner self. Calm Mind creates clarity. Wild Heart brings vivacity. It's a feeling of freedom remembered from childhood. And one that we should give ourselves permission to experience again.
What role do the local people play for you? And how do you want to involve them in the project?
The people here play an integral part. They carry knowledge, experience, and stories within them, often passed down through generations. We want to incorporate this knowledge. Not as an add-on, but as the foundation. Because this place thrives on people who hold this knowledge.
What should guests feel when they arrive here for the first time?
I hope our guests arrive to find their inner peace, and experience a sense of being carefree. Above all, I want them to feel our hospitality: that they feel welcome. Not like guests, but as friends who have been personally invited by me.
